A group of students in grades 4-5 at Alderson Elementary have taken hands on learning to a new level! Students are using local Osage Wood (what Native Americans used to hunt with!) from Monroe County, to craft their own bows! They have been learning the process of sanding and shaping since September! Next up, they will make their own arrows! We can't wait to see the finished project! 🏹🏹#AldersonElementary

Greenbrier County Schools received a 5-day waiver from the WVDE for days missed to winter weather.

Therefore, there will be no makeup days unless there are circumstances that would warrant closing schools from now to the end of the school year.

At Alderson Elementary, Mrs. Gore's 4th grade classroom students learned about sound waves. Students were given different sized rubber bands and cups to use with their partner to identify the different sound waves emitted. Students loved getting their hands on learning all about sound waves! #AldersonElementary

Alderson Elementary traditionally celebrates 100 days of in person learning! Mrs. McCallister’s 3rd grade class started the day with a scavenger hunt by completing 10 clues and retrieving items in groups of 10 to equal 100. It was loud and crazy, but the students had a great time and were able to interact with all staff such as the cooks, principal, specials teachers, custodian, nurse, and teachers they have never had during their time at the school. It was a wonderful way of reconnecting with everyone after having so much snow and changed schedules. Needless to say each group found all of their items equaling 100!!

March is Youth Art Month!

We’re celebrating the creativity and imagination our students bring to the world every day. This year’s theme — “The World Needs Art” — is the perfect reminder of how much their ideas, colors, and stories matter.

A sincere thank‑you to the citizens of Greenbrier County for supporting the arts in our schools through the school levy. Your support makes these opportunities possible.
