This Friday, we're celebrating the opening of the Annual Sharing the Gift of Our Talents Student Art Exhibit at the Greenbrier County CVB in downtown Lewisburg. Don't miss the chance to see the two- and three-dimensional art and the impressive digital display of additional works created by GCS middle and high school students! The EGMS Show Choir will add a festive spirit by presenting holiday songs from 5:30 to 6 p.m. The exhibit will be on display from December 1 to February 26. Many thanks to our inspiring art educators, talented students, and the citizens of Greenbrier County for supporting our art programs through the school levy. #ArtMatters and we are honored to partner with the CVB to share the talent of these outstanding students!

Mrs. Bryant’s Kindergarten class read “I know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Pie”! They were then inspired to make their own! They talked about the steps, made a list of what they would need, and voted on fillings. Today they got to enjoy their pies! 🥧

American Education Week is a weeklong celebration of public education and honors those making a difference in ensuring every child receives a quality education.

Greenbrier County Schools reminds families that schools will be closed on Friday, November 10, in observance of the Veterans Day holiday.

Mrs. McCallister's 3rd graders at Alderson Elementary studied Halloween and Day of the Dead! Their study included reading about each celebration , and creating Venn diagrams to compare and contrast. The final part of the study was to create their own Day of the Dead skeleton and then celebrate the day with the movie Coco and an offrenda which included chips with salsa, queso or guacamole and of course cupcakes with sugar skulls!! The study will continue next week with opinion writing where they get to choose their favorite celebration and tell why.

Mrs. Bryant’s kindergarten dissected a pumpkin today! Students learned about the different parts of the pumpkin to help them complete a labeling activity in their science journal. They ended the activity with a sick pumpkin! 🎃🫣
